So start with a full copy of your production database for testing and development – no matter the size – use data masking techniques for sensitive data, consider the advantages of subsetting and start from there, right?
Well, there is another way.
With the project objectives clear it is possible to generate data to fit the task. Using synthetic data isn’t only safer and quicker than manipulating production copies but it allows you to enrich data with the characteristics you are looking for. Why not give it a try?
