The truth about test data creation: The Silver Lining
Posted on 02. Sep, 2010 by Huw Price in Test data
Picture the scene – a development team who’ve been gathering dust as they wait for valid test data now find they not only have the data they need, but the data contains all the valid and invalid combinations to test their systems. Also, the data will enable them to test more robustly than would have been possible with ‘real’ or ‘live’ data. It’s happened before.
What I am talking about is test data creation; not database subsetting or data masking. Those methods are fine, for what they are. No, I’m talking about creating accurate, high-quality test and development data in multiple formats quickly and easily.
We’ve come across this exact scenario multiple times with our customers: test and development teams wasting time (and money) waiting for accurate data to be provisioned.
End-to-end testing and test data management, speedily and accurately put to bed with test data creation techniques. It can be done…

How is this done? I guess you’d be removing the developers from the data creation process?
