Quickly de-identify sensitive records with imaginative data masking techniques

Data masking solutions

It is no secret that many organizations are struggling with pressures to maintain compliance. Not only is security important from a database standpoint, but masking and de-identifying sensitive data records before they reach non-production is also significantly important. According to regulations like the PCI DSS, HIPAA and the GLBA, organizations must ensure their data is obfuscated to ensure private customer data is not visible to prying eyes.

In one complete package, the Datamaker™ suite offers the ability to mask, scramble, de-identify and obfuscate sensitive data records from production environments for use in non-production. Datamaker™ also offers database subsetting and synthetic test data generation techniques - both of which create test environments and data for non-production which is completely compliant with industry regulations.

Grid-Tools offers the Fast Data Masking™ product for Oracle, *DB2, Teradata and SQL Server databases, but offers data masking across multiple platforms. Fast Data Masking™ offers a fast and easy out-of-the-box solution to mask and de-identify sensitive records quickly, without the hassle. *More information on Fast Data Masking™ for DB2 will be available shortly.

The Fast Data Masking™ architecture

Data masking architecture

Data can be extracted to flat files for use offsite, or it can be masked, reorganized and compressed in situ using a combination of high performance techniques.

Systems analysts can choose from a rich array of standard functions and standard seed tables, complemented by their own custom masking functions.  Once the rules have been defined a powerful set of scripts are generated to quickly extract the data or mask the data in situ. The scripts use standard database utilities and techniques to maximize performance.
